About the Author
Joseph Conrad was born in Poland in 1857. He became a British citizen in 1886 and is regarded as one of the greatest novelists in English. A forerunner of the Modernists, he was noted for his impressionistic prose style and command over language. His work includes The Nigger of Narcissus (1897), Lord Jim (1900), Heart of Darkness (1902), Nostromo (1904), Under Western Eyes (1911) and Shadow Line (1917). Conrad died in 1924."
