This is a very funny collection of books with the lead role being played by a mouse who can speak. He resides in New Mouse City on Mouse Island. The protagonist, Geronimo Stilton, is portrayed as a journalist and editor working for the imaginary newspaper, The Rodent's Gazette.

He is seen to be in the company of his younger sister, Thea, and his cousin, Trap, among others. He is also noticed to have a young nephew, Benjamin. Benjamin is aged just nine. Geronimo is shown to be very polite in his behavior. He prefers a life free of noise and uproar. Nevertheless, he ends up getting dragged in numerous journeys with Thea, Trap, and Benjamin, and Aunt Sweetfur also in some cases.

In this story, the setting is similar. Geronimo goes on an adventure filled journey to Niagara Falls with his nephew Benjamin and his friends. He praises the place beautifully and appreciates its scenic views. But he expresses his concern when he gets encircled by numerous mouselets and he comes to discover that these mischievous creatures are poised to ambush him and send him into the Falls by means of a barrel.

The gripping plot followed in the story and the funny and interesting suspense created makes this book a prolific read, especially for children.
